Tridents Compete at Wrightsville, the East Coast's Longest-Running Triathlon

The YMCA Wrightsville Beach Triathlon has been running every year since 1979 (except for two hurricane-induced cancellations in '96 and '99) which makes it the longest running Tri on the East Coast. This year, COVID-19 and the impending weather from Hurricane Sally weren't enough to stop over 400 athletes from competing. COVID protocols were given the green light by the local hospital and even when a powerline was downed and vehicle traffic was forced to travel the racer's once-closed streets, race organizers and volunteers managed to pull off a seamless event. Coach Luke was DYING to race and the 1300m Open Water Swim was right up his alley.  He won the Aquabike category outright, coming in 4th on the swim overall. Elly had a great race too, with a 300m Open Water Swim, a 4mi Bike and a 1.7mi Run. And what a beautiful weekend at the beach! We hope to make this race a fantastic team event next year!

USAT and Trident - Safe Return to Multisport

Trident National Team will be following the phased approach developed by our Governing Body, USA Triathlon, as we look to build out our training programs. This phased approach was developed in part for the safety of athletes and the multisport community, but it will also help to protect our athlete’s families and all of our neighbors here in the Fort Hunt communities. Knowing that we all want to be able to return to training and competition, we value your safety as our primary concern!
